This is a nice infographic with some great tips! Definitely key to optimize your checkout process in order to reduce abandoned carts.

Tips 2,3, and 4 are spot on. In my experience, I’d question and/or add to tips 1 and 5.

About tip 1: While I definitely agree with minimizing distractions, it’s reported that 41% of shoppers abandon because they aren’t ready to make a purchase. Often times, they aren’t ready because they are lacking information, so it’s important to allow them to still go back to product pages and access customer support.

Personally I find it quite annoying when the checkout process is completely isolated from the rest of the site.

About tip 5: Always a good idea to require as little as possible in your checkout forms. You don’t want your checkout form to be an obstacle to a completed purchase. That being said, I see far too many eCommerce sites neglecting to require email addresses early on in the process. BIG MISTAKE because this limits your chances as a merchant to reach back out to abandonments and hopefully recover those potentially lost sales.
