New Tools for Google Ads – Just in Time to Boost Your Holiday Sales

It’s the most wonderful time of the year to be selling online as the 2022 holiday season arrives in full splendor. You may be trimming a tree and hanging colored lights around your home and office, but have you thought about sprucing up your digital advertising?

If you’re ready to take your online ads to the next level, Google has you covered with new tools to make sure your Google Ads are decked out with visually rich and detailed content – best of all, many of these new improvements should be arriving just in time for your big November and December promotions and sales. And you don’t even have to put in a special request to Santa!

Satisfying Customer Expectations for the 2022 Holidays

During the holiday season, you need to create captivating content that tantalizes customers and quickly satisfies what they’re seeking if you want to compete online.

When it comes to Google Ads, features such as image extensions and sitelinks deliver the visually rich experience and easy shopping that customers have come to expect. Google’s machine learning technology can help automate these ad extensions and provide users with engaging, relevant content.

In fact, Google’s own 2021 internal data indicates that four sitelinks in Search ads leads to a 20% clickthrough increase, and image extensions in mobile search ads results in a 10% clickthrough increase.

To help businesses like yours produce better performing ads that simultaneously improve the
user experience, Google is now rolling out more streamlined workflows and actionable reporting for both sitelinks and image extensions. These ad extensions are now actually going to be considered “assets” for your Google Ads, and they certainly will provide value to position your business for advertising success.

Consider it a holiday bonus – especially if you can implement the new tools just in time for the holiday shopping rush.

Streamlined Workflow

If you ever utilized sitelinks for Google Ads, you might remember that your ad extensions and assets had to be managed in separate steps during your campaign creation. With Google’s new tools, you’ll now be able to manage everything all at once for your Search and Performance Max campaigns.

Specifically, as you develop assets for your ad campaigns, the preview tool now automatically updates so you can instantly see how the assets will look in your finished ad. Also, Google will now automatically recommend assets based on your stated campaign goals to make sure you’re set up to succeed in a competitive advertising market (for example, Google’s lead form asset for your lead generation campaigns).

Best of all, any new assets you create as part of this streamlined workflow will also be available for any additional campaigns!

Actionable Reporting

More tools to help speed up your ad management process will soon be found in the new “Ads & assets” menu.

For example, the “Asset” table view will give you a quick glance at your headlines and descriptions with the “Association” table view will show assets including images and prices. You’ll even be able to click an asset type at the top of the page to filter reports and see how your different creative assets are performing.

There’s also a combinations report, where you’ll be able to see your sitelink and image assets alongside your headlines and descriptions – this will give you a holistic view of your ads so you can rapidly make decisions about the creative components of your different ads.
